Amnesty

Recently I said that amensty was in order. I want to clear up exactly what I mean.

First, those claiming that we can easily deport all of the illegal immigrants do not seem to have thought this through. The resources needed to find all of the illegal immigrants alone would be huge. Second, once we find them we will have to send them to some sort of hearing, which I am guessing will also be extremely costly. Next, once these illegals are gone where are we going to find enough workers to replace them fast. I don't want to hear about prisoners either. The incentives for them to do a good job would not be there and many of them would definitely not want to work in the fields. Now have any of these people that want to deport immediatly ever taken a course in ECONOMICS! Hello people it is called supply & demand. You cannnot get rid of these illegals and not expect more to come as long as there is a demand for there labor. Lastly, we need to increase quotas for laborers from Latin America.

As for amnesty, I believe that those who have been here and working for at least two years should get some sort of program where they pay back taxes or a fine and then are given work visas. Once those visas expire then they should be allowed to file for citizenship.

Something like this must be done. Let us not forget that it is our economy which makes us a super power.

Granting amnesty is not an option. Sending the message that it's okay to come to this country undocumented is suicide.

Perhaps if our so called "fiscally conservative" president would cut his spending, we could allocate money to get the process of deportation started. It's not an overnight battle, and border control is definetly the first step in a long process.

If the government would allocate money to the cause, and severly fine the businesses who are employing the illegals, that would be a step in the right direction (and would quickly cut the demand for undocumented workers).

Once we begin deporting the illegals, we up our quota for latin america laborers (as you suggest) and let them pour in to make up for the loss; by doing that, our supply of cheap labor is replenished and documented.

Granting amnesty will only encourage more illegals to cross the border and we will find ourselves granting amnesty over and over again, which is not a desireable situation.

You suggest that we being deporting illegals, but what about the effect that would have on the economy. Let us not forget we are fighting two wars, we are getting tax cuts galore (which I love) but the president is still spending like a drunken sailor.

We dont have the money to waste going after illegal immigrants. We are in debt!

Perhaps we could go after the businesses, which would force the illegals to leave because they would have no job. But I believe it would be best for the economy to secure the borders then grant amnesty to those who have been here for more than two years.

Let me be clear, I believe that theoritically you are correct but we dont live in theory we live in the real world. I dont want the economy taking a crap just for principle.
